Information / FAQ Canyoning

To start off with: it would be unfair to say that canyoning is not a hazardous sport! However, due to our many years of hands-on experience combined with security precautions, we can mitigate risk considerably. Our certified guides are well trained, have the necessary knowhow, and technical equipment to ensure that you can enjoy your tour to the full. Our company's motto is: "Safety First" and we really mean it! Therefore: always challenge other companies by asking how their guides are trained and how much experience they have.

What Requirements do I have to Fulfil?

If nothing else is mentioned, prerequisites are: good health, a normal fitness level, knowing how to swim, surefootedness, and be free of dizziness. For the more challenging tours prerequisites could be in addition: canyoning and rock climbing experience.

Can I bring a Camera along?

Not recommended. In theory water proof models could be brought along, however due to the jumps and slides, the possibility of losing a camera looms quite large. Trekking Team cannot be made liable for items of value that are brought along on tours.

I wear Glasses. Can I still participate in a Canyoning Tour?

No. Only lenses as an alternative. Canyoning tours with glasses are not possible.

Will the Tour be cancelled in Case of Rain?

This depends on the planned tour. As long as the safety of our guests is not in jeopardy, the tour will go ahead as planned. If we cannot guarantee this, then the tour has to be cancelled or postponed. It is sometimes possible to opt for another tour that is not so dependent on the weather. In case of doubt, always contact us 24 hours prior to the tour commencing: +41 79 6 007 007.

What happens in a sudden Thunderstorm?

Basically we try to correctly gauge the weather situation before the tour starts. Should a thunder storm arise shortly before a tour begins, then the tour is cancelled and an alternative date is offered. If this is not possible, you will be refunded. If we are already in a canyon and are surprised by a thunderstorm, then the tour is immediately aborted and we exit the canyon at the nearest possible spot.

Am I Insured against Injury?

No, injury insurance is up to the participant.

What Equipment do I receive?

You receive professional kit consisting of a three-part neoprene suit (Long johns, jacket, bodysuit with hood), neoprene socks, seat harness, helmet, and canyoning gloves.

Can I cancel a booked/confirmed tour / What is the Cancellation Policy?

Once the tour has been confirmed to you, it is basically firmly booked. In case of a cancellation, the customer must inform prior to the event in writing and must give the reasons for the cancellation. In case of cancellation, the customer will have to pay the following costs (always in % of the total cost of the whole arrangement):
29 - 20 days prior to the activity: 20%
19 - 14 days prior to the activity: 50%
13 - 1 day prior to the activity: 80%
Day of the activity and/or "no-show": 100%
